The Rays have announced they have signed defenseman Danny Federico. Danny played for the Allen Americans last season playing in 65 games as a rookie after being loaned from the San Jose Barracuda. He also appeared in 10 playoff games while the Americans won their second straight Kelly Cup.
The 24 year old 6′ 1″ native of Acton, Massachusetts, played at Quinnipiac University while in college. He played in 132 NCAA games, finishing his career with 38 points (three goals, 35 assists) and a +46 rating. This earned him an ATO with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He did not play a game for the Penguins.
Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Ryan Warsofsky said that Federico is “on the right track” when it comes to his development. Federico said he has heard “nothing but good things about the organization, the coaches, the ownership, and the fans” from people he talked to.
He is the fifth defenseman, seventh overall, to sign with the Stingrays who will announce another player tomorrow at 3:00 pm on their Facebook page.
